New Program for Early Career Faculty Protégés
MentorNet has expanded our Academic Career E-mentoring program to include
tenure-track faculty protégés who would like a tenured faculty mentor to help
them with such issues as tenure, work/life balance, teaching, academic service,
and university governance and politics. If you or someone you know would be
interested, you can find out more
here.
Protégés: Sign Up to be Matched
We've made close to 600 matches since July 1, but with the school year underway
and more than 1,100 mentors waiting for protégés, now's the time for students,
postdocs, and early career faculty to sign up for our One-on-One program or to
activate their profile to be matched. If you have an existing profiles simply
sign in, click My Profiles, and change your Profile Status to Active.
If you're new, use the link to join MentorNet and create your profile.
New Profile Option for Mentors
Mentors and MentorNet community members with mentor profiles now have the option
of automatically letting their alma mater know they are MentorNet volunteers,
provided that its one of our
participating colleges and universities. To do so, log in as a member,
go to My Profiles, click the School/Career tab and the Edit link next to
Educational Info. You'll find the check box at the bottom of the page. This is
entirely voluntary, and we will not release your name unless you give
permission.
Biologists Have More Profile Options
We've added several new subspecialties to the Biology field in member profiles
to allow both mentors and protégés to be more specific about their career path
or profession. If you're in the biological sciences, please take a minute to
update your profile.
