Alejandra Velasquez
Director of Media and Communications
Alejandra Velasquez joined MentorNet in July of 2009; having started her career in the technical field, she was immediately attracted by MentorNet’s mission. As Director of Media and Communications, Alejandra is responsible for increasing MentorNet’s outreach and for strengthening its impact on the communities it already serves. Over the last 16 years Alejandra has worked on the development, support, and marketing of high-tech products. As a technical expert both in the software and telecommunications industries, she has traveled extensively throughout the United States and internationally, developing an understanding of customer needs and perceptions, as well as of how cultural differences can affect business relationships. She has specialized in value proposition and message development.
Alejandra’s participation in non-profit organizations goes back to her teenage years when she joined a literacy program in rural Mexico. Later in life she has served on several non-profit boards with diverse missions such as immigrant help organizations, trade organizations, and schools. She has served as treasurer, secretary, and member at large.
Alejandra holds an MBA from the University of Portland with emphasis in Marketing and Finance, and a BS in Computer Systems from Tecnologico de Monterrey in Mexico City where she graduated with honors. Alex enjoys reading, trail bike riding with her family, and the diverse, international cuisine found in Silicon Valley. She lives in Campbell, CA with her husband and two daughters.
