Burlington County College
Burlington County College, located in south central New Jersey, held its first classes in September, 1969. The college has grown over the years to include the main campus in Pemberton, a second campus in Mount Laurel which includes a Business Incubator, and two satellite sites in Mount Holly and Willingboro. Evening college courses are offered at many of the high schools throughout Burlington County.
Burlington County College and New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) have formed a unique joint program housed in the same building at the Mount Laurel campus. What makes this program different is a special relationship that allows students to apply and be admitted simultaneously to both institutions. Students who are interested in this dual admissions program may apply while in their senior year of high school, or at any time during their first academic year (first 33 credits) at BCC. Students who successfully complete a designated associate degree with the recommendation of the NJIT department administrator will be automatically accepted for admission into the designated NJIT programs without further admission review. As part of this agreement, faculty have integrated curriculum to assure a smooth transition and integration from an associate degree to a bachelor degree. The joint admissions and equivalent courses between the two institutions consist of the following degrees:
- Computer Science
- Computer Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Engineering Science
Extensive academic programs and support services are available to Burlington County College students. Among the academic programs for 2000-2001 are the following:
- Transfer options - 31 Associate of Arts (AA) and Associate of Science (AS) degrees. These degrees are designed for transfer to a four-year institution.
- Career Degree Programs - 21 Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degrees. These degrees are designed for immediate employment of the student upon graduation. In some cases the student may transfer to a four-year institution.
- Certificate Programs - 10 non-degree career-oriented programs of study.
Historically, Burlington County College has been known as a transfer college and is committed to supporting students in their continuing higher education endeavors. Burlington County College has one of the highest transfer rates in the state of New Jersey. Dual admission agreements and transfer articulation agreements exist with Rutgers University, The College of New Jersey, Rider University, Montclair State University and numerous other area colleges and universities.
