Success through Mentoring:
A Workshop on Mentoring Research and Practice

And a collaboration with the SACNAS National Conference: Science for America's Future.

Summary of Workshop:

MentorNet, with a grant from the National Science Foundation and its Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring (PAESMEM) program, and with additional support from Texas Instruments and Affymetrix, and in conjunction with our partnering organization, the Society for Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS), was pleased to present a national workshop, "Success through Mentoring" in Denver, CO, as a pre-conference workshop of the Annual SACNAS conference: Science for America’s Future.

The workshop was attended by 92 participants representing more than 50 organizations - institutions of higher education, corporations, professional societies, government labs, and other nonprofit organizations. The lively and interactive format was well-received with frequent 'buzz' sessions throughout the day, where participants were able to interact and network. Among others, the presentations by Stacy Blake-Beard and Lois Zachary were particularly popular with those attending.

In its design and implementation of programs, MentorNet draws upon the growing body of research on mentoring and the experience and expertise represented in the field of mentoring practitioners. We are therefore glad to be able to share some of the knowledge from the "Success through Mentoring" Workshop with you.
