2001 Partners Forum - Pre-Event Information

Dates

March 29-30, 2001, Palo Alto, CA.

Overview

The purpose of the MentorNet Partners Forum is to bring together MentorNet’s current and prospective campus, corporate, professional society, and government representatives. The Forum will take place at the Hewlett-Packard Company headquarters in Palo Alto, CA. The Partners Forum is sponsored with support from the National Science Foundation and the Hewlett-Packard Company, with logistical support provided by WEPAN, the Women in Engineering Programs & Advocates Network.

Objectives

The primary objectives of the Partners Forum are to:

  • Build networks between and among corporate, professional society, government, and campus representatives related to their common commitment to supporting women in engineering and related sciences.
  • Learn about best practices in electronic mentoring.

Highlights

Discussions and Presentations will focus on:

  • Corporate challenges and strategies in recruiting and retaining technical women
  • Status of women in engineering and related sciences in education and employment
  • An in-depth introduction to MentorNet’s program and technology-supported systems
  • Assessment, outcomes and overall evaluation of MentorNet
  • Discussion of ways organizations across sectors can work together to expand the participation of women in engineering and related sciences
  • Introductions to related organizations and projects

Participants

The MentorNet Partners Forum is open to any of MentorNet’s current or prospective partners. Registration will be accepted on a first come, first served basis with space limited to 75 registrants.

Cost

A registration fee of $150 per person is required, which includes conference materials and meals. MentorNet sponsoring organizations are eligible for two complimentary registrations; contributing campus partners have been allocated one complimentary registration. Please make checks payable to: MentorNet.

For current campus partners, limited support to assist travel expenses is available on a first come, first served basis; contact cbmuller@mentornet.net for further information.

Print out and mail registration form below by February 16, 2001. You will receive confirmation of your registration by e-mail upon receipt of your form and further details will be e-mailed by March 2, 2001. For more information, contact Elizabeth Chalk at echalk@stevens-tech.edu.

Accommodations

Rooms for those attending the Partners Forum have been set aside at the Creekside Inn in Palo Alto ($149/night), within walking distance of the Hewlett-Packard headquarters conference site, and near Stanford University. Reservations are the responsibility of each individual. If you choose to use this hotel, reservations are required before Wednesday, February 28, 2001. Be sure to mention the MentorNet Partners Forum when registering.

Travel

Palo Alto, CA is located 15 miles south of San Francisco Airport (SFO), 25 miles north of San Jose Airport (SJC) and 35 miles south of the Oakland Airport (OAK).
