MentorNet News Bits & Bytes

MentorNet Seeks Student Leaders

Past and current protégés may qualify for the MentorNet Student Leadership Corps, which gives you the opportunity to gain valuable skills to add to your résumé and help spread the word about MentorNet so we can reach our goal of matching 500 mentor-protégé pairs in January and February. All participants will be rewarded - and the top five participants will get Boomtube portable speakers from Virgin Electronics! For more information contact info@mentornet.net.

Campus Partner Discount Offer; Drive for 500 New Pairs

MentorNet is offering a half-price partnership to new or former partner campuses that sign up by January 15, as part of the MentorNet Campus Fast Track. Campuses will receive full MentorNet program benefits for the remainder of the 2004-2005 academic year. Also, in cooperation with National Engineers Week, MentorNet is launching "Drive for 500," which seeks to match 500 new mentor-protégé pairs in January and February. For more information Click Here.

Cisco Systems Honors MentorNet

MentorNet was selected as a grand prize winner in the nonprofit category in the Cisco Growing with Technology Awards 2004 as an organization that effectively uses a network to make a sustainable difference. Cisco announced the winners November 16. For details, see the press release.

Save the Date

On Sunday, April 10, 2005, MentorNet will be sharing our expertise on emerging research and best practices for e-mentoring in a day-long workshop: "Success through Mentoring," in collaboration with the 2005 WEPAN/NAMEPA conference in Las Vegas. Watch for more information in the near future!

MentorNet Welcomes New Campuses

Harvard University and Bowdoin College are the newest MentorNet campus partners. We also thank Los Alamos National Laboratory for renewing its sponsorship at the partner level.

And the Winner Is...

Grace Qiu, a computer science sophomore from Iowa State University, is the proud recipient of a MentorNet sweatshirt, which she won in our monthly drawing from new protégés. New and returning students who sign up to be matched by December 31 will be automatically in our next drawing-for our cool, newly designed, MentorNet T-shirt.

Holiday Planning for Mentoring Pairs

Mentors and protégés, get ready for the upcoming holidays (and, unfortunately, exams) by letting one another know about your schedules and vacation plans. And protégés, it's a great time to think about using some post-exam downtime to ask your mentors about issues you haven't yet addressed.
