Announcing...The 2005 MentorNet

Drive for 500

In celebration of National Engineers Week, February 20-26, 2005

Drive for 500

MentorNet (www.MentorNet.net) is celebrating National Engineers Week 2005 by matching 500 new pairs of mentors and protégés in its award-winning One-on-One e-mentoring programs. MentorNet brings together undergraduate and graduate students in engineering and related sciences with professionals in industry, government and higher education, and graduate students and early career faculty with tenured faculty members, for structured email-based mentoring partnerships lasting eight months.

Drive for 500 campaign elements:

MentorNet's Campus Fast Track offers a half-year membership for colleges and universities voted by Black Enterprise magazine as the top 50 colleges and universities where African-American students are most likely to succeed to participate in MentorNet's programs at half-price! Institutions of higher education must register by February 28, 2005 to take advantage of this special opportunity.

bullet   Participating colleges and universities are taking part in the Campus Challenge by recruiting additional protégés to meet goals based on campus enrollment size. Prizes will be awarded to those four reps who recruit the greatest number of new protégés.

bullet   Sponsored through a grant from the S.D. Bechtel, Jr. Foundation, past and current protégés can sign up for the Student Leadership Corps, which gives students the opportunity to gain valuable skills to add to their résumés while helping to spread the word about MentorNet. All participants will be rewarded - and the top five participants will win Boomtube portable speakers from Virgin Electronics!

bullet   MentorNet's Computer Science and Computer Engineering "Hard Drive" targets student organizations and faculty leaders in computer science and engineering at our participating campuses to encourage students to become MentorNet protégés.

bullet   Have fun, win prizes, and recognition for you, your campus, and student volunteers!

bullet   Reach our Goal to match 500 new pairs between January 1 and February 28, 2005.

Can your company or organization get the Drive for 500 across the finish line? Sponsorship opportunities (financial and in-kind) are available, please contact Carol Muller at cbmuller@mentornet.net.
